DIART-Lab es un laboratorio ciudadano transdisciplinario que investiga el potencial de la inteligencia artificial (IA), la realidad virtual (VR) y las artes digitales como herramientas para reducir la brecha digital y fortalecer la cohesión social en el espacio euro-mediterráneo. Su enfoque parte del reconocimiento de que la tecnología no es neutral: sus impactos dependen del contexto, el acceso y las capacidades culturales de quienes la usan.

El laboratorio combina metodologías participativas, pensamiento de diseño y co-creación de futuros en entornos virtuales, integrando saberes de jóvenes, adultos mayores, artistas, educadores, investigadores, técnicos y comunidades locales. En este marco, la creación de narrativas inmersivas permite visualizar futuros alternativos, explorar dilemas éticos y promover nuevas formas de ciudadanía digital.

DIART-Lab se organiza a través de seis roles formativos (Conector, Digital, Diseñador, Filósofo, Comunicador y Activador) que articulan habilidades técnicas, críticas, sociales y creativas necesarias para una IA centrada en valores humanos. A través de proyectos piloto con software libre y tecnologías emergentes, el laboratorio demuestra cómo la inclusión, el arte y la experimentación tecnológica pueden generar innovación social.

Guiado por el principio del “Flocking” —una lógica colectiva inspirada en los movimientos ágiles y coordinados de los estorninos—, DIART-Lab promueve ecosistemas abiertos, colaborativos y éticos donde el conocimiento emerge desde los márgenes. Así, ofrece un modelo replicable de educación e innovación que contribuye a una transformación digital más justa, plural y sostenible.

The lab’s framework is built around six human-centered roles—Connector, Digital, Designer, Philosopher, Communicator, and Activator—each integrating technical skills with critical thinking, creativity, and intercultural understanding. This model supports an inclusive form of AI literacy that prepares participants not just to use technologies, but to shape them responsibly.

Operating on the Flocking Principle—flexible, adaptive, and decentralized collaboration—DIART-Lab prioritizes listening to peripheral voices and encourages experimentation, iteration, and ethical innovation. It provides an open, replicable model for institutions such as universities, cultural centers, local governments, and private companies to jointly create equitable and meaningful digital transformation strategies.
